<p><span style="color: #993366;"><strong>Cost of glass used:</strong></span></p>

<li>All glass/materials consumed in its entirety.</li>
<li>ANY Glass with a melted end AND shorter than 14” will go into a discount glass bin and the depreciated value of glass is taken off total $ made of class.  Leftover glass without a melted end will not be taken off price.  Glass rods with a melted end and longer than 14” will not be taken off the price.</li>
<li>Extra hardware (Example, wine stopper class has metal wine stopper hardware), metals, silver or gold leaf/foil, cubic zirconium’s, etc used in the class).</li>
</ol>
<p><span style="color: #993366;"><strong>Studio fees</strong>:</span></p>

<li><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Glassblowing room</span>: $4.50/hour (per student)

<li><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Weekly Average</span></strong> &#8211; If you are a bead maker, you must turn in an average of 300 beads/week to be able to teach.</li>
<li><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Proven Teaching Ability</span></strong> &#8211; Candidate must demonstrate to management of Woodstock Art Glass that they have superior knowledge of the subject matter they will be teaching, and are able to lead a classroom in a fun and engaging manner.</li>
</ul>

<span style="font-size: 15px; font-weight: bold; color: #3366ff;">Pre-Class Checklist:</span></p>
<ul>
<li><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Be Punctual</span></strong>: Arrive 30 minutes early to set up.</li>
<li><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Set Up Materials and Equipment to be Used</span>: </strong>
<ul>
<li>Glass &#8211; Lay out the glass materials to be used during class (weighed out for you by shop keeper)</li>
<li>Eye Protection &#8211; ensure each station and student has eye protection</li>
<li>Tools &#8211; allocate proper quantity of tools to be used by each student</li>
<li>Mandrels &#8211; Dip mandrels for students, and have 1-block at each desk for each of your students.</li>
<li>Kilns &#8211; Turn on Kilns (after your first demonstration)</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Tidy Up</span></strong>: ensure room is clean and tidy (inform member of management if it is not)</li>
<li><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Paperwork for Students</span>: </strong>Ensure that you have a Liability form for each student ready to be handed out before class begins.</li>
</ul>

<span style="font-size: 15px; font-weight: bold; color: #3366ff;">Teacher Guidelines During Class:</span></p>
<ul>
<li><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">No cell phones</span>.</strong> Give out number to the store for family/friends to call in case of an emergency.</li>
<li><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">When to Start Cleaning</span></strong>: Don’t start cleaning up during the allotted class time</li>
<li><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Clean up after class</span>: </strong> (leaving out one of these things will cost you $15)</li>
<li><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">One-on-One Attention</span>:</strong> Ensure that you are dedicating an equal amount of one-on-one attention to each student. Remember, students will be given a &#8220;Feedback Card&#8221; after class in which they will rate the quality of the class and teacher.</li>

<li><span style="font-size: 13px; font-weight: normal;">sweep room and tables,</span></li>
<li>return mandrels to shelves,</li>
<li>Straighten mandrel dipping cart- sweep and make sure class mandrels are kept in separate can.</li>
<li>turn off all concentrators,</li>
<li>turn off propane on the tables</li>
<li>Return all glass used in class to shopkeeper.</li>
<li>Turn off lights and kilns</li>
<li>Throw away trash left behind in classroom and break room (don’t forget fridge),</li>
<li>Put students work in pots in kiln and label properly so they get what they made in class, not someone else’s work.</li>
</ul>

<p>Artists who perform work for Glassbaker are responsible for translating their artistic talents into our craft and creating beautiful glass charms for our distributor’s jewelry line.</p>
<p>No direct or previous experience glass art (e.g., lampworking, glassblowing) is required for candidates to be considered for this position; however, the ideal candidate will have a strong background in at least one of the following areas:</p>
<ul>
<li>2D-Art</li>
<li>3D-Art</li>
<li>Metalsmithing</li>
<li>Welding</li>
<li>Craft Art</li>
</ul>
<p>Our staff provides classroom tutelage and hands on instruction necessary to allow the new artist to focus their talent into learning our craft and master the techniques used to create our beautiful glass charms.</p>
<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</span></strong>:</p>

<li>High level of talent in creating art on a production scale</li>
<li>Excellent background in 2D or 3D Art</li>

<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Classroom Atmosphere</span></strong>:</p>
<p>Initial mandatory classroom sessions for new artists take place in our glass art studio in the heart of the beautiful downtown Woodstock area.  Studio environment offers a casual, friendly, and relaxed atmosphere filled with artists who have an amiable disposition and look forward to meeting new people.</p>
<p>After initial tutelage is provided, artists are provided with the equipment needed to perform their work from home.</p>
<p>Duration of Glass Art Course for New Artists</p>
<p>The initial classroom training sessions take place Monday through Friday from 9am to 6pm.  The average amount of time it normally takes to complete the class for new artists is 3-1/2 to 4 weeks, depending on talent and skill level.</p>
<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Pay Structure</span></strong>:</p>
<p>Glass artists are paid on a per piece production basis.  New artists are not paid to attend the glass art class, because of the substantial amount of time, money and resources Glassbaker is already investing into those candidates who are selected to attend the class.</p>
<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Working At Home</span></strong>:</p>
<p>After the initial training new artists go through is complete, the new artist will be provided with equipment necessary to perform their work at home.  Upon working from home, artists are required to come back into the studio once a week to turn in the charms they made that week.  Additional classroom sessions will be needed as the artist progresses and learns additional glass charm designs; however, these additional class sessions typically last for just a few hours.</p>
<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Experience and Education</span></strong>:</p>
<p>Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years experience working in one of the desired background fields specified under the <em>Position Summary</em><em> </em>portion of this job posting.   Formal higher level education at a college or institution is not necessarily a requirement, but might help your chances.  Candidates must also have a <span style="text-decoration: underline;">consistent</span> work history.</p>
